Pink Stumps Day at Kerang Christian College

Primary School students at Kerang Christian College had a terrific time participating in a round robin cricket competition for Pink Stumps Day at Riverside Park on the last day of Term 1. The Pink Stumps Day is an initiative of the McGrath foundation to raise money to support nurses who work with cancer patients.

The Primary School students were placed into six teams with students from Prep to Year 6. Throughout the morning each team had the opportunity of playing in four exciting games of cricket. The Secondary School Sports Performance elective class assisted with the running of the event throughout the day. We wish to thank these students for their support.

The winning team was presented with special Pink Stumps Day caps during a Chapel and assembly at the end of the day. Congratulations to Jett Hancock (Prep), Tom Joseph (Prep), Axel Hancock (Year 2), Atticus Saladores (Year 2), Lauren Cordingley (Year 3), Jemarie Café (Year 4), Lachlan Somerville (Year 4), Shavana Harris (Year 5), Olivia Brown (Year 5) and Sarah Boal (Year 6).

“We congratulate all the participants on a great effort in competing in Pink Stumps Day. Thank you to all of the volunteers for setting up, umpiring and cooking the BBQ. We enjoyed the day playing cricket,” highlighted Sarah Boal, the captain of the winning team.

The Secondary School Event Management elective class did a fabulous job planning and running a sausage sizzle for the College community to raise additional funds for the McGrath Foundation. Many thanks to these students for their assistance.

The College community did a wonderful job raising $425 for the McGrath Foundation. Once again, we wish to thank everyone for their generous support of this event. We also wish to thank our volunteers who assisted throughout the day, including Mrs Joyce Gee, Mrs Kristy Pilgrim, Mr Ben Carter and Mr Danny Nethercote. The College also wish to acknowledge and thank the Kerang Lions Club for generously allowing the College to use their BBQ trailer. Year 5/6 teacher Miss Bronwyne Van Leeuwen did a great job organising this event for our school community.
