Senior School students will have the opportunity to experience their first taste of 2016 VCE classes during our VCE Orientation program that runs from Monday, 30th November to Monday, 7th December.
A week’s orientation for VCE provides a valuable opportunity for students to not only receive study materials and gain information about the subjects they are enrolled in, it also allows them to complete a significant amount of subject content. This in turn helps them to get an effective head start to their studies, which should translate into a better understanding of the topics they cover as they progress into next year.
Year 10 students will be effectively moving into Year 11, while our Year 11 students will commence Year 12 for their last week of schooling in 2015. Some Year 9 students will commence accelerated Unit 1 VCE Courses.
Careful planning has gone into the expansion of the College into Year 11 in 2015 and Year 12 in 2016. The College has recruited staff with VCE teaching and leadership experience during the past few years in preparation for offering VCE studies. Furthermore, the College has developed new Secondary School facilities during the expansion process. In 2014, construction was completed on Stage 1 of the Secondary School Classroom Wing including a state-of-the-art video conferencing facility. Stage 2 of the Secondary School Classroom Wing was completed during 2015.
The new Secondary School Classroom Wing includes two video conference rooms, which allow students and teachers to work collaboratively with other schools and resource providers. There is potential for students to study VCE courses via video conference in subject areas not available at the College.
The development of the VCE subjects offered by Kerang Christian College has been a careful process. Over three years, the College has been researching the potential directions and needs of the existing Senior School student cohort, and the subject selections of past students. The College has also been investigating the subjects that are offered across our region, and considering the more popularly enrolled subjects across the state. Kerang Christian College is excited about the plans to offer the following VCE subjects in 2016:
